Strain Profile • B. infantis

Bifidobacterium infantis 35624

A highly specific strain demonstrating targeted efficacy in the management of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) symptoms.

Clinical Validation in IBS

Unlike many broad-spectrum probiotics, B. infantis 35624 has a highly specific body of evidence, most notably the Whorwell et al. (2006) study showing significant reduction in all core IBS symptoms (pain, bloating, bowel dysfunction) at a specific dose.

Dose-Response Anomaly

Interestingly, clinical data suggests a U-shaped dose-response curve. The optimal dose was found to be 1 × 108 CFU, with higher doses (1010 CFU) failing to show significant benefit over placebo, highlighting the critical importance of strain-specific dosing protocols rather than generic "high CFU" formulations.
